Office of Urban Management
The South East Queensland Regional Water Supply Strategy project originated during the South East Queensland 2021 project (SEQ 2021).
In April 2004, the Queensland Government established the Office of Urban Management (OUM) to guide regional planning and infrastructure coordination in South East Queensland. Taking over from the SEQ2021 project the OUM now has responsibility for regional planning in South East Queensland.
The Office sits within the Department of Local Government, Planning, Sport and Recreation and reports to the Deputy Premier, Treasurer and Minister for Sport, the Hon. Terry Mackenroth MP.
The OUM’s charter is to provide leadership in regional planning and manage urban growth and the effective provision of infrastructure in South East Queensland.
The principal role of the OUM is to support the Minister responsible for urban management in South East Queensland and the Regional Coordination Committee.
On 27 October 2004 the Office of Urban Management released the Draft South East Queensland Regional Plan. The Regional Plan was complimented by the South East Queensland Infrastructure Plan and Program that was released in late April 2005.
